|THE JEWEL OF PIKE COUNTY MISSOURI
JACK FLOYD LAKE
BOWLING GREEN MISSOURI
|This is actually the hidden jewel of Pike County Missouri. Bowling Green City Lakes located just
outside of Bowling Green city limits. The city maintains two city lakes, the Jack Floyd Memorial Lake
( 40 acres) and the West lake (45 acres)... Both can be used for canoing or kayaking, boating is
allowed but boats can only use electric trolling motors.
The best lake to visit is the Jack Floyd Lake. This lake has very easy access, has a boat ramp, nice
double dock and some of the most breathtaking views found in the area. This lake sets in a valley
surrounded by steep hillsides, cliff and rock outcroppings . This lake reminds me of some of the
lakes found in the Ozarks , Smoky and Appalachian Mountains, great views all around, eagles soar
above as you cruise the lake. Nice size lake over 40 acres. It usually takes about 2 hours to make a
trip around the lake in a kayak or canoe. If you kayak or canoe this lake travel into every cove so you
do not miss anything.
This is a must see lake, the lake has a nature trail or just put your boots on and hike around the lake.
The lake is great for fishing, slip a boat in and catch that big one or go fishing from the bank or dock.
This lake also has primitive camping, , nice camp sites for tents. To camp here please contact the city
of Bowling Green .
The West Lake is a little hard to reach, if canoing or kayaking be ready to carry or haul the canoe or
kayak up a long steep hillside to get to the water. This lake has no dock or boat ramp, you need to
carry boat to water and put it in. Nice lake to float, has great views and great fishing but it is hard to
